Polypropylene (PP) is a relatively porous material that easily absorbs odours and colours. You may notice a coloured haze on your MOODS outdoor items after eating any of the following: - tomatoes - papayas - grapefruit - ketchup - red cabbage - beetroot - turmeric - curry This is because of some of these foods contain lycopene, an organic chemical compound. Lycopene naturally adheres to plastic, causing stains. Check out our tips to remove the coloured haze. - Mix water and baking soda to obtain a paste and apply to the stains. Let the paste sit, then wash your product with a soft cloth. - Lemons can be used in all kinds of clever ways when cleaning. Cut the lemon in half and rub it over the stains. Let the lemon juice sit, then wash off with a soft cloth. - Rub the stains with a soft cloth and some vinegar diluted with water. The above tips will reduce staining but are no guarantee that the stains will fully disappear. The discolouration does not affect the food safety grade of our products. Under no circumstances should you use steel wool, a scouring pad or abrasive cleaner, as this will cause damage to your dinnerware in the form of small scratches. |
